RANCHO PENASQUITOS (KGTV) -- Bach to Rock in Rancho Peñasquitos opened its doors mid-February. They never imagined its physical location would close a few weeks later.
"It's actually been a rollercoaster ride, an emotional ride," said site director Fresas Balistreri.
They have about 100 kids enrolled in the program, but numbers have decreased since the start of the state's stay-at-home order. However, Balistreri said they've kept the classes going through virtual lessons.
"We are planning on keeping our programs going. We've had an online showcase already, which is a performance via Zoom," Balistreri said. "This is all unprecedented. We're just taking it day by day."
Balistreri said they have plans to put kids in virtual bands so they can practice once a week with a band coach. The school is currently offering a free trial class to people of all ages.
"I feel strongly about music education. Education in general needs to be holistic. Music in itself, is its own language," Balistreri said.
She hopes to open the school later this month, pending guidelines from the state. They also plan to hand out masks to their students, with the school's logo on it.
Bach to Rock is located on Black Mountain Road.
