San Diego's Weather Forecast for Tuesday, August 16, 2022: Hot, muggy and stormy conditions

Posted
and last updated

Daytime highs continued to trend above average this afternoon. The heat peaks on Wednesday before a slight cooling trend into the weekend. Some of our microclimates, including the mountains, will see close to a 10 degree drop in daytime highs. However, it won’t feel like much relief thanks to high humidity levels sticking around.

A few showers have passed through Julian, but storm activity will diminish overnight before picking up again tomorrow afternoon.

With high pressure continuing to settle over the four corners, we’ll stick with the chance for pop-up thunderstorms in our mountains and deserts each day this week.

By Friday, a greater surge of monsoonal moisture moves in, ramping up the severity of thunderstorm activity in our mountains. This could lead to flash flooding, gusty winds, and hail and its likely Flash Flood advisories and/or warnings will be in effect

Monsoonal flow weakens Sunday with drier conditions expected early next week.

Tuesday’s Highs:
Coast: 76-81°
Inland: 83-94°
Mountains: 87-96°
Deserts: 104-108°
