SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A former Chargers fan continues to use airplane-flown banners to take jabs at owner Dean Spanos before the team’s home games in Carson, and on Sunday, it was a South Bay restaurant owner’s turn to take his shot.

El Pollo Grill Bonita owner Victor Lopez is known for offering a free “Spanos taco” the day after every Los Angeles Chargers loss. The taco giveaway is Lopez’s way of celebrating the misfortune of his former favorite team.

For Sunday’s home matchup against the Oakland Raiders, Lopez worked with “SD Sign Guy” Joseph MacRae to have a banner flown above StubHub Center that read, “Forbes values an EPG Spanos taco higher than you Dean.”

Lopez told 10News he spoke to MacRae about what he needed to have his own sign flown before a game. After the discussion with the “Sign Guy,” the ball got rolling on Lopez’s banner plans.

After Lopez’s banner, MacRae had a second banner flown that stated, “Dean Spanos = The Mark Davis haircut of NFL owners.”

MacRae has become notorious for his crowdfunding efforts to have banners that troll Spanos and the team fly high prior to Bolts’ home contests.

Lopez’s free taco promotion will continue until the Chargers’ season ends. He told 10News that it was “more than likely” he would have another banner flown above a Bolts home game this season.
