The San Diego Padres have signed free agent shortstop Alexei Ramirez to a one-year contract, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman.
Salary terms were not immediately reported.

The 34-year-old had played his entire career for the Chicago White Sox, making the All-Star team in 2014.
Ramirez has a career batting average of .273 and his hit 109 home runs in his major league career.
