SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The Force was definitely strong with the San Diego Sockers in their match against Soles de Sonora Sunday night.
The Sockers slipped past the team from Hermosillo, Mexico, by an 8-7 score and the victory came on “Star Wars Night” at Pechanga Arena with the players donning special Darth Vader custom jerseys.
Slavisa Ubiparipovic had two goals and an assist and Brian Farber’s two goals late in the 4th period gave San Diego the lead for good.
After the game, the players’ jerseys were auctioned off, with proceeds going to the San Diego Food Bank.

The 6-1 Sockers’ next match is at home against Ontario on Jan. 5 at 5:05 p.m.
