Spencer Soicher joined the ABC 10News team in July 2023 as a multimedia journalist.
At ABC 10News, Spencer covers local government. He takes this role seriously, holding local leaders accountable for their words, promises, and actions while asking the hard questions that must be answered.
He also covers real estate for the station and through his reporting he hopes to make a difference, shining a light on the very real housing and affordability issues in San Diego.
Before coming to ABC 10News, Spencer worked as a weekend anchor and reporter in Colorado Springs, CO. There, he earned a reputation for asking public officials the questions they want to avoid, and exposing the truth in his political reporting.
While in Colorado, he reported on several presidential visits, and political campaign cycles, making a mark by fact-checking and conducting strong interviews.
Spencer has a uniquely conversational storytelling style and prides himself on telling stories that make people think. He loves a weird story!
His reporting from the frontlines of the most destructive wildfire in Colorado history, the Marshall Fire, as well as from a deadly mass shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub have been honored with multiple Edward R. Murrow awards and an Emmy nomination.
He is a graduate of the best school in the world, The University of Texas at Austin, and is most likely to be found parked on his couch over-hyping the football team each Saturday in the fall.
Spencer is originally from Denver, where both his dad and uncle anchored sportscasts at local TV stations during his childhood. He's thrilled to be in San Diego, where he has family, and excited to laugh at his parents as they shovel snow out of the driveway in Colorado during the winter.
