Woman says young boy attacked her in downtown San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman walking in the Gaslamp Quarter Wednesday night was attacked by a male she described as a young boy.

San Diego police said the incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. near 4th Ave. and E St.

According to police, the woman was walking when a young-looking male tried to grab her purse.

When she resisted, the attacker -- who was described as being 10-15 years old -- hit her in the face with a skateboard helmet and ran away without the purse.

The woman was treated at the scene at the scene by paramedics but is expected to be OK.

A detailed description of the suspected attacker was not immediately available.
