SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was hit and killed on a Lincoln Park street Wednesday night by a pickup truck that fled the scene and later smashed into a home just a block away.
San Diego police said a 50-year-old woman was crossing the street in the 4600 block of Logan Avenue just before 8:45 p.m. when a late-model Chevrolet pickup truck traveling westbound tried to beat a yellow light but struck her in the roadway.
After striking the pedestrian, the truck hit a house nearby and came to rest. Witnesses said they saw three people get out from the truck and ran away.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released by police.
No one was injured inside the home.
Police initially detained a man a few blocks from the crash scene, but he was released.
A description of the truck's occupants has not been released.
