SAN DIEGO -- A 33-year-old woman crossing a Barrio Logan street against a red light Friday morning was struck by a pickup truck, suffering a broken right ankle, according to authorities, who are trying to track down the driver.
The victim was struck shortly after 7 a.m. by a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck -- license plate number 8V94014 -- as she walked across southbound Harbor Drive, San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said. The motorist briefly slowed down after the crash but then drove away, the officer said.
A witness was able to take down the truck's license plate number, according to the officer. However, Cali later stated that police contacted the driver of the Toyota Tundra, but no arrest was made. The investigation is ongoing.
The victim suffered a fractured right ankle and was taken to a hospital to be treated, Cali said.
