SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was hospitalized after the car she was driving crashed head-on into a tree and burst into flames early Wednesday morning.
The wreck happened just after 5 a.m. in the 3900 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, near the Clairemont Town Square shopping center, San Diego police said.
Emergency responders arrived to find a black Mercedes-Benz sedan had slammed into a tree on the center divide and caught fire. The female driver was apparently able to get out of the car before the vehicle burst into flames.
It took firefighters about five minutes to knock the fire down.
The woman, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital with what was described as minor injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
No other injuries were reported.
