Woman found dead in downtown hotel

Posted
SAN DIEGO -- A woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a downtown hotel early Tuesday, and homicide detectives were sent to investigate.

The unidentified woman, who was believed to have been around 25-years-old, was found in a common shower area at the West Hotel in the 500 block of West Broadway near Columbia Street shortly after midnight, San Diego police Lt. Mike Hastings said.

She had what appeared to be blunt force injuries to the upper body.

"Since it was not known how the decedent sustained her injuries, homicide unit investigators were called to the scene out of an abundance of caution," Hastings said.

He said the county Medical Examiner's Office would be tasked with determining how the woman died.

Anyone with information on her death was asked to call police at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
