Woman crashes SUV into Lakeside home

Posted

LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman driving an SUV crashed into a Lakeside home Monday morning, leaving the front half of the vehicle lodged in the living room.

“Oh my gosh, I didn’t realize it was that far in there,” said the driver, Stephanie Sanders.

She and her passenger were driving downhill on Oak Creek Drive at 1:45 a.m. went the Ford Excursion's brakes stopped working.

“I went to put my brakes on and they didn't work. They got like spongy and just went straight to the floor. I was like, oh my God. I did everything I could to try to stay calm,” said Sanders.

The emergency brake on the SUV also failed, Sanders said.

The couple who live in the home came out immediately after the crash and said they were glad they weren’t in their living room at the time. No one was hurt.

Firefighters said their living room was full of antique furniture. The home will need extensive repairs.

Sanders told 10News she and her passenger had been in the area to admire the architecture.
