OCOTILLO WELLS, Calif. (CNS) - The pilot of an ultralight aircraft suffered non-life threatening injuries Wednesday in a hard landing at a desert airstrip 30 miles east of Julian, authorities reported.
The aviation accident occurred about 8:30 a.m at Ocotillo Airport on state Route 78 in the far eastern reaches of San Diego County, according to Cal Fire.
The 57-year-old pilot was the sole occupant of the small aircraft, sheriff's Lt. Karla Menzies said.
Medics took the man, whose name was not released, to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. He was transported by air ambulance due to the remote location of the airport, Menzies said.
