(KGTV) - Surveillance video of a Chicago-area carjacking shows a young girl jumping out of a moving vehicle to escape the ordeal.

Aurora Police Department officials said a man’s SUV was carjacked May 4 at a gas station while his 11-year-old daughter sat inside.

In surveillance video, the girl is seen opening the door of the SUV and leaping out as it speeds away. She lands hard on the pavement.

Meanwhile, her father jumps onto the hood of a car being driven by the carjacker’s accomplice in an attempt to stop it, but it gets away.

The girl and her father were not injured in the incident, police said.

The carjacking suspect, identified as Tyrelle Pulley, was eventually located and arrested. His accomplice remains at large, police said.
