(KGTV) - A teen was wounded and a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody Friday morning following a shooting that took place at a high school in Palmdale.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Highland High School at about 7 a.m. Friday after reports of an armed person at the campus and possible gunfire.
According to sheriff’s officials, responding deputies and ATF agents searched in and around the school and eventually detained the suspected shooter -- a 14-year-old Hispanic male -- at a nearby grocery store.
A possible motive has not been determined.

A 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm. He is reportedly in stable condition.
No other injuries were reported.
Update Regarding Highland High School in Palmdale:
1 victim shot in the arm at Highland High School. At local hospital now. stable condition.

Sheriff's officials said deputies cleared the school at 9 a.m., but an investigation was ongoing. School officials kept the campus on lockdown due to the probe.
During the response at Highland High, deputies went to nearby Manzanita Elementary School after receiving reports of shots fired in the area. However, sheriff's officials said the school was clear after an investigation.
