SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Emergency crews Wednesday rescued a driver trapped in his truck after a crash on Interstate 15 in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a crash involving a commercial truck and a semi-truck was reported on northbound I-15 at Carmel Mountain Road just after 5:20 a.m.

The wreck left the Sadie Rose Baking Company deliver truck and its driver stranded on the shoulder, and the incident blocked at least two lanes on northbound I-15 during the morning commute.

CHECK TRAFFIC CONDITIONS

Firefighters and other first responders at the scene worked to extricate the driver, whose leg appeared to be stuck in the truck’s damaged cab.

Shortly before 6:20 a.m., firefighters -- with the help of the Jaws of Life and other tools -- removed a large portion of the windshield and other parts of the cab and pulled the man to safety.

The man was taken to the hospital via ambulance with serious injuries to both of his legs.

No other injuries were immediately reported.
