SAN DIEGO – Hundreds homes were left without power after a tree came down on a power pole near Balboa Park in the South Park neighborhood of San Diego early Wednesday morning.
Sometime before 3 a.m. a tree fell onto a power pole in the area of 28th and Date streets, on the edge of Balboa Park Golf Course. The tree struck the power lines and caused the power pole to snap in half, sending lines onto the ground. There were no injuries.
About 600 customers were initially without power. According to San Diego Gas & Electric’s website, 176 customers were without electricity as of 6:20 a.m. Power was not expected to be fully restored until around noon.
