A South Bay woman will receive a refund from an online car company after she contacted Team 10.
"If I didn't call you guys, they won't do [anything] about it," said Irene, who declined to use her last name.
She showed Team 10 an email she received after the story aired saying that Economy Bookins accepts "full responsibility for the mistake."
Irene will receive a refund of $428.65.
"I don't have to stress out anymore," Irene said. "I get my money back."
The problem started June 11 when Irene went to pick up the rental car at Thrifty car rental near the San Diego airport. She said she was not allowed to rent the car because she was a local resident. While Thrifty's policy on its website states that a proof of "return airline flight" is required at airport locations, Irene rented through Economy Bookings. The representative on the phone who helped her book her rental car never told her that.
Economy Bookings opened an investigation into Irene's case after Team 10 contacted them.
The money should be deposited back in Irene's account in a few days.
