A man is facing charges Thursday after allegedly shooting through the front door at a North Park residence, then holing up inside and holding police at bay for hours.

Officers sent to investigate a report of a shooting in the 3400 block of Nile Street near Myrtle Avenue shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday found bullet holes in a door and later determined they had come from inside the residence, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

Heims said the occupant initially refused to come out and a SWAT team was summoned.

He surrendered a little over three hours later, according to news reports. His name was not immediately available.
