SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man was sent to the hospital Wednesday morning after he was run over by an SUV that was being pursued by police in the City Heights area.
San Diego police said officers spotted a Lexus SUV traveling at a high rate of speed on El Cajon Boulevard at around 3:30 a.m. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, it sped away.
The SUV attempted to make a turn on Euclid Avenue but the vehicle jumped a curb near a 7-Eleven and struck a man standing outside of the store.
Police said two men got out of the SUV and ran away, but officers were able to track down one of them. Officers are working to determine if the man in custody is the driver.
The injured man, believed to be homeless, was taken to the hospital with a leg injury.
A description of the SUV occupant still at large was not immediately provided.
No other injuries were reported.
