Suspicious item closes downtown streets, trolley

Posted

A suspicious item that police say is possibly a pipe bomb was discovered near 1st Avenue and C Street in downtown San Diego Wednesday afternoon.

Police deployed a robot and blew the item up, but have not confirmed what the item was exactly.

Police had 1st Avenue between Broadway and B closed, and trolley service was shut down during the incident. Those streets are now reopened and the trolley has started running again.
