Suspected drunk driver plows into flower shop

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A suspected drunken motorist suffered serious injuries when his car to left the roadway today and crashed through a flower shop and then into a palm tree in the Allied Gardens community of San Diego.
   
The motorist suffered a serious head injury and a dislocated hip, said San Diego police officer Frank Cali.
   
The 33-year-old motorist was driving his 1998 BMW 528i southbound in the 6600 block of Mission Gorge Road at 2:25 a.m. when his car drifted to the right for an unknown reason and drove up the sidewalk, Cali said.
   
The vehicle then crashed through the flower shop and continued into the palm tree, he said. Alcohol was a factor. It was not immediately known whether the driver was cited or arrested.
