Students Accused of Selling Tainted Gummy Bears

CHULA VISTA, C.A. — At least two students were taken into custody Wednesday after being accused of selling candy laced with marijuana, according to a spokesperson from the Sweetwater Union High School District.

They said at least two students fell sick after eating the candy at Bonita Vista Middle School.

Police said the students knowingly purchased the marijuana-laced gummy bears from the other students.

Ambulances were called onto campus to treat the students. They were later released to their parents.

Police said the students selling the gummy bears were arrested and they will likely be prosecuted by the District Attorney’s office as juveniles.

The school district said only the parents of the students involved were notified because it was an isolated incident.
