Strong storm causes county power outages

The storm passing through the county Tuesday caused a handful of power outages, including one affecting nearly 4,000 customers, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

The utility's power outage map shows the largest outage began just before 4 p.m. in Clairemont Mesa and Kearny Mesa, near state Route 52. The cause was still being determined for the outage, which was affecting 3,979 customers, according to SDG&E.

The utility reported other outages, affecting a few hundred customers each, in Point Loma and southern Chula Vista.
