SAN DIEGO -- A stray bullet fired during what may have been a gang fight in the Encanto neighborhood pierced the window of a residence and struck a 20-year-old woman Thursday night, San Diego police said.
Two groups of men got into a fight along 64th Street near Imperial Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. and at some point, one person involved in the scuffle pulled a gun and opened fire, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.
"A stray bullet went through a window into a house and struck a 20-year- old female victim in the right shoulder blade," Heims said.
Heims said the victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available, but gang detectives were investigating, according to the officer.
