JAMUL -- A skydiver was injured in an accident Sunday, a CalFire spokesperson said.

The incident occurred at 2:25 p.m., when "a female skydiver made a hard landing'' at a skydiving center near Otay Lakes, east of Chula Vista, Cal Fire PIO Capt. Kendal Bortisser said.

The nature of the woman's injuries is unknown. She was transported to a local hospital.

Bortisser said the victim, a 46-year-old woman, was a client at Skydive San Diego, 13531 Otay Lakes Road, in Jamul. Its website describes it as a full-service skydiving facility with planes holding 18 to 23 jumpers.

Skydive planes depart from Brown Field, fly over Imperial Beach and downtown San Diego before clients jump, according to the company's website.

According to the owner of the skydiving company, the woman is an experienced skydiver who has completed more than 100 jumps. Her parachute fully opened, but there was some type of problem with the landing.
