LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A water crew digging in the area of Sharp Grossmont Hospital knocked out power to the facility Monday, forcing the hospital to pull power from its central energy plant.
The power outage started at 11:10 a.m. at the hospital at 5555 Grossmont Center Blvd., according to San Diego Gas and Electric. The company reported that a total of seven customers in La Mesa lost power.
No patient services were affected by the incident, according to hospital officials. The hospital was also put on full bypass for its emergency room.
Although hospital officials said the power was restored an hour after the outage started, SDG&E said the outage was ongoing and would last as long as 24 hours while the equipment was being repaired.
