SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Senator John McCain will be reunited with his best friend on Sunday, when he is laid to rest at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
McCain and Admiral Chuck Larson were friends since the academy. Twenty years ago, the pair decided to reserved cemetery plots together for themselves and their wives.
A San Diego woman had an instrumental part in making sure the request was fulfilled. Jo Dee Jacob says her boss, Admiral Larson, made the request twenty years ago. However, when she started looking for four plots in the same locations, she realized there wasn't enough space. Jacob started making phone calls and eventually found people who were willing to give up their plots to make it happen.
Admiral Larson passed away in 2014 and tomorrow John McCain will once again be by his side.
