ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - Police are scouring the streets of Escondido for a person suspected in a shooting that left a man dead Wednesday night.
Gunfire was reported just after 9:45 p.m. in the 600 block of N. Grape Street, according to Escondido police.
Details on what led to the shooting remain unclear, but police confirmed that officers arrived at the scene and found a 36-year-old man in a home’s backyard dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Another person at the shooting scene was also assaulted, police told 10News.
Police said numerous people were seen fleeing from the area when officers arrived. Some people were detained for questioning, according to police.
A description of the suspected shooter was not immediately available.
The incident is under investigation, but police believe the incident may be gang-related.
