SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Police identified Monday the man who they say drove at a vehicle and the officer who shot him in the arm in Kearny Mesa.
Officer Jarrel Davis was one of two officers who made contact with Jason Santana and Marco Huerta while they were in a car drinking alcohol in the parking lot of the Kearny Mesa Recreation Center last Wednesday, police said.
A DMV records check showed the car was stolen, according to police. The officers tried to arrest Santana but said he backed his vehicle into them.

Officer Davis fired one round, hitting Santana in the arm. Santana drove away but crashed into a parked car on nearby Marlesta Dr., police said. Officers arrested Santana after he ran from the scene.
Santana is facing charges including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, felon in possession of a loaded firearm, and three no-bail probation warrants.
Santana's passenger, Marco Huerta, remained in the car and was arrested. He was booked into San Diego County Jail for parole violation, police said.
