SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are searching for whoever tossed a lit flare into a car parked on a Lake Murray street, sparking a fire inside.
The incident happened just after 12 a.m. Tuesday in the 6400 block of Lake Arrowhead Drive, according to San Diego police.
Several residents said they woke up to strange sounds and saw a fire burning inside a parked car. One resident said he saw a man running away from the area as the car burned.
A resident used a fire extinguisher to help put out the blaze before fire crews arrived.
Police said they believe someone broke one of the car’s windows and threw a flare inside. Arson investigators were called in to look into the incident.
No injuries were reported, and no other nearby vehicles were damaged.
