San Diego police investigating homicide in Fairmount Park neighborhood

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police are investigating a woman found unconscious and unresponsive on the floor of an apartment on 38th Street.

The San Diego Police Department received a 911 call regarding an assault at 1530 38th Street Saturday afternoon. Officers entered the apartment to check the welfare of the occupants. According to a news release, officers found the woman on the floor of the apartment with major trauma to her upper body.

Paramedics were already on scene and entered the apartment to render first aid. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers also found a man inside the apartment, who they placed under arrest. Police have not revealed the man's relationship with the victim and his involvement in her death, if any. 

The victim has been identified but her identity will not be released pending family notification.
