SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Flu cases nearly doubled in San Diego in the past week, County Health Officials reported Wednesday.

182 area residents reported the flu this week, 78 more than the previous week, officials said.

Overall, there have been 859 flu cases this season compared to 242 at the same time last year.

Four people have died from the flu compared to three people at this time in 2016.

“Flu activity in San Diego and across the country continues to be elevated for this time of year,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “Get vaccinated now to protect yourself and your family, especially with the holidays coming up.”
