SAN DIEGO – A Southwest Airlines plane flying from Las Vegas to San Diego was struck by lightning Thursday morning.
Southwest Airlines confirmed that Flight 1783 from McCarran International Airport was hit by lightning while landing at Lindbergh Field at around 7 a.m.
The flight landed and taxied safely without any issues. No passengers or crew were hurt. The plane was inspected and taken out of service.
The plane was scheduled to depart to Phoenix at 7:55 a.m. for Flight 518. However, that flight was delayed two hours in order to get another plane.

Southwest Airlines Flight 1783 from McCarran International Airport to San Diego International Airport sustained a lightning strike while inbound to San Diego International Airport and landed safely and routinely. The aircraft is out of service for inspections. Customers scheduled for Flight 518 from San Diego International Airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor International will be accommodated on another aircraft after an approximately two hour delay.
