SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A $30,000 ring that was accidentally tossed into the trash was recovered at a San Diego landfill.
City of San Diego officials told 10News a woman and her family were cleaning in their home when the valuable ring was inadvertently thrown out with the garbage.
They realized what happened just as a garbage truck pulled away from their home, so they contacted the city for help.
City crews used GPS technology to figure out which truck to check, and family members raced to the Miramar Landfill.
The owner was able to quickly recover her ring.
“Sometimes it takes three, four hours for them to find it. Sometimes they don’t find it at all, so to have something … you know, a $30,000 ring in four minutes, that was pretty good,” said city spokesperson Jose Ysea.
