SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A lost dog found by a Rancho Santa Fe firefighter was reunited with its owner Wednesday.
According to the Helen Woodward Animal Center, Fire Engineer Brian Ciuchta found the small dog while running in Sycamore Canyon.
“She was miles away from any home and she wasn’t wearing a tag,” stated Ciuchta. “I knew if I didn’t take her with me, she was definitely going to be food for a coyote.”
Ciuchta placed a “found” ad on craigslist and brought the pup to the station, which is located across the street from the animal center.
After getting the dog checked for a microchip, it was discovered that the lost dog had never been microchipped, leaving her former family a mystery.
After some leg work, the adorable pup, named Leah, was reunited with its owner.
UPDATE: The owner has been located and Leah is on her way home. https://t.co/UWOrftuhty
