SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The race for California Governor is heating up as voters head to the polls to decide who will face off in November.
According to the latest 10News/San Diego Union-Tribune poll, Democratic Candidate Gavin Newsom is leading the race at 33 percent followed by John Cox at 17 percent and Travis Allen with 12 percent.
The poll also shows that a majority of people who support Newsom live in the Bay Area, where he served as the mayor of San Francisco.

Cox's support mostly comes from Inland Empire and Central Valley voters with 42 percent of Republicans and 46 percent of conservatives backing him.
In total, there are 27 people running Governor of California.
