Police searching for person who reportedly stole $100,000 cello

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect who reportedly stole a cello worth $100,000 from a Mission Valley hotel room.

According to police, the incident happened on August 8 between 8 and 10 p.m. at the Town and Country hotel on the 500 block of Hotel Circle North.

Police say the suspect forced their way into the hotel room, which was unoccupied at the time, and stole several items, including the rare, custom-made cello.

The cello was made by Mario Miralles and has a label that reads “Mario Miralles 2010 Alta Dena California”. The cello is valued at $100,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
