An armed man took an unknown number of cellphones from a Verizon store in the Mira Mesa community of San Diego, a police officer said Sunday.
The suspect walked up to the Verizon store, 8118 Mira Mesa Blvd., and knocked on the door at 7:52 p.m. Saturday, said Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.
An employee opened the door, the suspect pulled out a gun from his pocket and pointed it at the employee, ordering him to go to the safe, Heims said.
The suspect then pulled out a duffle bag and made the employee fill it with cell phones. The suspect fled in an unknown direction, he said.
The employee described the suspect as a black male, about 20 to 25 years old, unshaven with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans, he said.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
