SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A man allegedly involved in a road rage incident was taken into custody early Monday morning following a standoff in a Spring Valley neighborhood.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a three-vehicle crash occurred at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at state Route 94 and Via Mercado. In the collision, a witness told the CHP that one of the vehicles involved in the apparent road rage incident left the scene, but he managed to write down that car’s license plate number.
At about 9:30 p.m., CHP officers tracked down the car’s owner to the Calavo Woods apartment complex on 10850 Jamacha Blvd. When an officer knocked on the door of a unit, the man who answered the door -- believed to be the car owner -- reportedly displayed a firearm and made threats.
Additional units, including a SWAT team, were called to the scene after the man refused orders to exit the apartment.
Over the next four hours, officers made several attempts to get the man to surrender, but he continued to ignore the orders.
Just after 1:40 a.m., SWAT officers entered the apartment and took the man into custody without incident.
A teenage boy who was inside the apartment during the ordeal was not harmed.
The arrestee’s identity was not immediately released.
There is no word on what charges the man will face.
