NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV)--A San Diego Police pursuit in San Diego ended in a fatality in National City Sunday morning.
The chase started when police tried to pull over a motorcycle carrying two people for a traffic violation at about 9:30 a.m. at an undisclosed location. Police said they were both 23-years old.
Speeds exceeded 100 mph. and eventually crashed near the Firestone Auto Care on E. Plaza Boulevard and Euclid Avenue.
Police said the motorcyclist suffered significant head trauma and died on scene. The passenger was sent to the hospital and police said she is expected to survive.
At 10:30 a.m. National City Police Department issued a traffic advisory for motorists to avoid E. Plaza Boulevard until 1:30-2:30 p.m. It suggests 8th Street to Harbison Avenue or 16th Street to Harbison Avenue as alternate routes. Euclid Avenue, north and south, is open.
