CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Carlsbad Sunday afternoon.
Deputies say around 12:10 p.m. they were called to the scene of the collision at the Carlsbad Coaster Station.

Authorities say a southbound train was traveling around 72 miles-per-hour when the engineer noticed a woman running towards the tracks.
The train went into emergency braking but was unable to stop in time, according to the department. The 64-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
