OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A man was hit by a train and killed Tuesday night near Surfrider Way and North Cleveland Street in Oceanside just before 8 p.m.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department told 10News the pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.
At 8 p.m., Metrolink Orange County tweeted that the Amtrak 591 train hit a person on the tracks. They then tweeted that the tracks were closed and they were working on alternate transportation for passengers.
UPDATE: Amtrak 591 struck a person on the tracks between San Clemente Pier and Oceanside. Tracks are closed and we are securing alternate transportation now.

Nearly half an hour later, Metrolink confirmed that the tracks were still closed and Orange County Transit Authority bus 5819 would go to San Clemente to assist passengers.
