The first installment of the 44th annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is scheduled for this Sunday evening.
The event, with a theme this year of "Christmas Around the World," features more than 80 festively decorated boats sailing down a parade route from Shelter Island south toward the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge. The circuit takes about two hours.
The best viewing sites include Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, and in Coronado, the Ferry Landing and Tidelands Park. Also, the Port of San Diego will offer seats, music and food trucks at the foot of Broadway Pier.
The port encourages attendees to use public transportation since parking lots fill quickly.
The parade will be run again next Sunday.
