SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A verbal argument between two men led to a stabbing at a trolley station near Petco Park Sunday.

It happened about 12:45 p.m. at the Twelfth and Imperial Transit Center, according to San Diego police Officer Sarah Foster.

Two men were having an argument that escalated into a pushing match, Foster said.

One of the two was knocked to the ground, and the other began to walk away when the man who had been knocked down said something that apparently provoked the other to turn back and stab him.

The victim received stab injuries to his leg and buttocks, which were not believed to be life-threatening, Foster said. He was taken to a local hospital.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at large.
