SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) -- Two Pacific Surfliner trains were delated Monday night, after a fatal incident on the tracks between Old Town and Sorrento Valley.
Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit responded to the collision at 7:21 p.m.
The crash happened on the tracks, about a half mile north of the Solana Beach Transit Center on N. Cedros Avenue.
A northbound Coaster train was traveling at around 40 mph when the train engineer noticed an adult man walk on the tracks and in front of the train, deputies said.
The train engineer did activate the emergency brakes, but was unable to avoid the collision.
Several trains were delayed as a result of the crash.
