CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- An investigation was underway Wednesday into a gang- related shooting that left one man dead and a second wounded in a Chula Vista neighborhood.
Patrol officers who were close enough to hear the gunshots found the two men suffering from bullet wounds in the vicinity of Kearney Street and Church Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Chula Vista police statement.
Both victims were taken to a hospital to be treated but one later died from his wounds. Police said the other victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Witnesses told investigators that two or three men dressed in hooded sweatshirts opened fire on the victims, then ran off. A detailed description of the suspects was not provided, and there were no immediate arrests, police said.
