One dead, one injured after City Heights shooting

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was shot and killed near a City Heights park Friday night.

San Diego Police officers were called to the area near Teralta Park just before 7:30 p.m., after reports of multiple gunshots near the 4100 block of Central Avenue. 

Officers arrived to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds. A male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the second person was taken to the hospital. Their wounds are not considered life-threatening.

The identities of both men are known, but are being withheld pending family notification, police said. 

Witnesses say a man walked up to the victims around 7:30 p.m. and opened fire. No arrests have been made.

SDPD homicide detectives are investigating. The department's street gang unit detectives are assisting by investigating any possible gang-related connection.
