(KGTV) -- A 52-year-old Oceanside man died after being found upside down in the snow at Mammoth Mountain.

According to the resort, the Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol was dispatched to the Redwing area after receiving reports of a man upside down in the snow around noon Thursday.

“Guests on scene had started to unbury the skier, and patrol immediately started CPR and administered automated external defibrillator shocks as the skier did not have a pulse,” a spokesperson for the resort said.

The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the death are unclear.

The resort says Mammoth Mountain has received 87 inches of snow since Tuesday.
