A major fireworks show is scheduled at Qualcomm Stadium Wednesday following the 11th annual Poinsettia Bowl.

The "Stadium Spectacular" will introduce pyrotechnology that hasn't been seen before in North America, according to the San Diego Bowl Game Association. The show, produced by Rialto-based "Pyro Spectaculars by Souza," is scheduled to take place shortly after the game.

"As America's premiere pyrotechnics production company, we regularly scan the globe for the very best fireworks effects for our shows," said James Souza, president and chief creative director.

He said fans will be presented with fireworks that "will be bigger, more powerful and more creative than any show they have ever seen."

His company has produced fireworks shows at three Olympics games, several Super Bowls and the 100th and 125th anniversaries of the Statue of Liberty.

With a 1:30 p.m. kickoff, the show at Qualcomm Stadium should begin right around sundown.

The game will feature two of the most successful non-power conference college football programs of recent years in 8-4 Boise State and Northern Illinois, which has a record of 8-5.

The Broncos have won three Fiesta Bowls since 2007 and emerged victorious in five of their last six bowl games overall. The school known for its blue home field has played in one Poinsettia Bowl, losing to TCU 17-16 in 2008.

The Huskies reached the Orange Bowl in 2013 and will seek their first Poinsettia Bowl victory in its third appearance.
